What Is God
I know that there are many religious people out there, and that everyone has a different version of what they believe god is. My opinion, is just that. Again, I am not here to offend anyone’s beliefs, but I do have my version of what I believe God is. During my initial experience, I mentioned I could feel the presence of something I could only describe as divine. Well, today while I was at work, I got another sudden insight to the question, what is God.
Most people understand God, as being a mystical man in the sky that created everything. People pray to God, looking up at the sky, often asking if he can hear you. People believe that they are seperate from God, and often blame God for their misfortunes, and praise god for their good deeds. People often thank god for meals, and at night before bed. However, most of the time, they recieve no answer, and bad things continue to happen all around the world. The argument of this, is free will. We are given free will, to create our own realities. It is a choice, to be good, or bad. This is once again, the ego. It is what seperates us, from God.
I often don’t like using the word God, to describe the divine. There are many different names for the creator, here are a few. God, the Divine (or Divine Being), Cosmic intelligence, Universal Consciousness, and Supreme Being, there are many many more names, but these are most common in the spiritual world. Once we realize that the ego, is the only thing that seperates us from God, we can learn to enhance that relationship, and experience knowledge, like I described in a previous blog post. From my interpretations of the bible, I have come to see that even in the bible, God is mentioned as a part of all humans, not seperate.
There is another name for God, in Hebrew, used in the bible, and that is, Elohim. This word is often confused. Some say it is plural, others say it is singular. Elohim is often used to describe, multiple gods, but the argument remains that is said to be singular. However, since my experience, this makes complete sense to me. Elohim, is both, singular, and plural, at the same time. This is because all human beings are able to connect to the single source of God. So this makes each and every human being a God, yet, all being one, as in singular. So when we confuse Elohim for being singular or plural, they both really mean the exact same thing. One source, multiple outlets.
Another example, comes in Genesis, Chapter 1, verse 26. For those of you unfamiliar with the verse, I will write it here.
” Then God said ” Let us make people, in our image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters of all life. The fish in the sea. the birds in the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals, and small animals.”
Well my first question was, who is us? Our image? To be like Ourselves…. This does not sound like one God to me. This was taken out of a Christian bible. However, it doesn’t matter what version of bible you pick up, it says this, in every single version of the bible. So when god created people, it is always described, from a plural point of view. So this may cause someone to question their faith in a singular god. However, yet again, this plural viewpoint, is also singular. In Christianity, they refer to the holy trinity. God being 3 different people, but all acting in unity. The father, the son, and the holy spirit. The holy spirit, and the son, are capable of the exact same things, the father is capable of. They are all the exact same thing. So plural, yet, also singular. The father, being God, The son, being Jesus Christ, are technically, one and the same. So that leaves the holy spirit. As we know, each and every single human being on the planet has a spirit. We know how to connect with this spirit through higher states of consciousness, via, meditation. So that means, that each and every single human being, is capable of connecting with God, being in unity, and capable of all the same things that God is capable of. The father, the son, and the holy spirit, meaning, You. Once again, it’s just a matter of transcending the ego, to realize this.
In the old english version, the holy spirit is also known as the holy ghost. Well this makes sense, when you are able to astral project. You leave the body, and you become, a ghost, capable of doing anything. During this experience, you can experience knowledge, oneness, unity, love, and peace. This, I believe was the divine presence that I felt, during my initial experience. That is what God is.
