Well I have an opinion on the real meaning of Christmas. Christmas means many things to many people. I believe that Jesus Christ was a real person and was a major inspiration to the world, and deserves to be honored on his birthday. However, I also think Jesus Christ is a symbol of the Sun. On Dec 21, the sun is at its lowest point in the sky. It takes 3 days, which can be related to the resurrection, and is re-born on Dec 25th. On this day, the sun is no longer dead in the sky, and begins to climb up on the horizon each day, so therefore we celebrate the birth of Christ(Sun). As for the origins of santa clause and christmas trees and all the other traditions, I honestly don’t know, probably just things people did and it stuck, just like a fad does now. Long before Christ, there were other saviors with the exact same birth dates and things in common. 12 disiciples, also known as 12 months of the year and so on. Every major religion in history, relates back to the Zodiac calendar. You might want to check it out. So much in our modern world, stems from the zodiac, I wouldn’t doubt the origins of christmas are in there somewhere.
